to Finke Gardens!
We would like to say Thank You to our terrific customers for making Finke Gardens & Nursery a success! We’re proud to be part of the Lincoln business community, and proud to restate what our mission has been from the start: to cultivate your garden success.
Our history extends back two generations of the Finke family to 1965, when Plantland, a lawn and garden center co-owned by Richard W. Finke, opened at 500 N. 66 th Street. Plantland retail eventually became Lincoln Ag-Products wholesale owned by W. Richard “Dick”
and the late Patty Finke at 445 N. 66 th Street.

Finke Gardens & Nursery began as a landscape design/installation business in 1988 from the home of Rich and Luann Finke. In 1995, we came full circle by opening a retail store operation at the former Plantland location, 500 N. 66 th Street, with a small inventory of container trees and shrubs, two greenhouses and six employees.

In ten years we have grown to over five acres of nursery and retail space extending from 66 th to 70 th Street between the MoPac hiker/biker trail and Dairy Queen on the north, Dead Man’s Run on the south and west of Meginnis Ford, including another building with storage and classroom space, two new production greenhouses (23,000 sq. ft. total), a newly expanded gift shop (now 2,800 sq. ft.), and three times the original staff.

We specialize in combining naturalized, native and hardy introduced plants to create the Nebraska Style Landscape for any property—residential, commercial or public. Our professional design staff listens to your needs and creates designs that are out of the ordinary. |
You are invited spring, summer and fall to browse in our retail greenhouse for perennial and annual plants and unusual foliage and flowering houseplants, or in winter to simply enjoy the warm sunshine and the earthy green fragrance of growing plants. |

Finke Gardens - Cultivating Garden Success Since 1987

Beginning as a “seed” in 1987, Finke Gardens is rooted in a love of plants and an obsession for trying new kinds. Rich and Luann Finke met as horticulture graduate students at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in the early 1980's where they both worked for the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum. Rich became curator and horticulturist at the Nebraska State Fair Park Arboretum, while Luann worked for UNL Extension Horticulture and later at the Nebraska Statewide Arboretum and UNL Landscape Services.

Rich and Luann Finke, horticulturists with a passion for plants and the inspiration of accomplished colleagues, began as a company of two that has grown into a staff of more than a dozen. Through the years the love and obsession have blossomed, now with more partners to further the dream.
