Home Grown Flavor in Biodegradable Pots

posted by finkegardens on August - 26 - 2010

Home-grown means produced with loving care by the Finke Gardens staff at 500 North 66th.  It’s our way of guaranteeing diversity, sustainability and quality.

We are growing all our own herbs and vegetables in biodegradable pots.  One less piece of waste for the landfill, and great flavor for your table!  Start the planting season with Liberty broccoli or Kaitlin cabbage – great source of Vitamin C and high quality kraut-making.  When warm temperatures arrive, plant Imperial Star artichoke, said to produce artichokes  in just 85 days.  Ever heard of the herb saltwort?  We hadn’t, but please try this traditional and nutritional Japanese herb used in sushi and salads.

We are also offering seed potatoes, onion plants and asparagus crowns with “How-to’s” on our website.  Early planting is best.  An extensive list of herbs and vegetables can be found in the post “Cultivating Kitchen Gardeners“.
