2010 Classes and Events Schedule

Cultivating gardening success begins with learning more about plants and how they grow. The staff at Finke Gardens joins some of the region’s best plant professionals to bring you this comprehensive program. Classes hosted by Finke Gardens will be held in the Finke Gardens classroom.  Locations of other event are listed below.  Most do not require pre-registration and are free unless otherwise noted.  Continue to check in for updates and more information.

Thursday, September 9, 6:30 p.m.
Mark your calendar for an evening that spotlights the beauty of ornamental grasses.  Finke Gardens horticulturists join the Lincoln Parks & Recreation staff to guide your visit through the beautiful combinations of shrub roses, durable perennials and striking ornamental grasses.  The movement and texture that grasses bring to the landscape is at its best in September.  Join us to see the wide variety of grasses and their seedhead colors, foliage textures and subtle plant details.  Located at 27th St and Capitol Parkway

Learn More About Succulents

September 14 – Hypertufa Trough Class
Tuesday 6 p.m.
Learn how to make these containers that are perfect for succulents, herbs and rock garden plants.  We’ll construct a simple container to learn the basic techniques, then you can spend the winter making containers for next year’s garden.

Pre-register early as spots are limited.
Project cost:  $25

October 5 – Planting Succulent Containers
Tuesday 6 p.m.
Join us for a chance to work together planting succulent containers.  Bring your hypertufa container, purchase a new container, or bring an old favorite.  Finke Gardens will provide the soil, the space to work, and a 25% discount on succulents for your project.

There’s no charge for the event, but you will need to register, as space is limited.
